Vanessa R. Butler

Movement
Vanessa R. Butler is a working actor and teaching artist based out of New York City.  She began training in dance early, entering into pre-professional ballet programs at Milwaukee Ballet and the Rock School of Ballet. She turned to acting later in life and is currently teaching movement at Stella Adler Studio for Acting and Montclair State University. Vanessa has choreographed for the Sacramento Ballet Soul Pride (fBeer & Ballet repertoire) in 2008, choreographed for Central Connecticut State University’s production of RENT in 2013 and Montclair State University’s production of Dance Nation (2022).  She’s worked with the physical theater company Bated Breath from 2013-2015 and participated in the development of several new works. In 2017 she received the Connecticut Critics Circle award for Outstanding Actress in a Play after the premiere of Queens For a Year at Hartford Stage.
