In 2013 Ms. Edelmann began her Movement Theatre – Poetry class at the Rose M. Singer Center (women’s facility) on Rikers Island. The Rikers’ class performs for an invited audience several times a year.
Ms. Edelmann’s latest project is Patricia Frisk. A performance art installation that calls attention to the “pat and frisk” policy for incarcerated people.
She has taught throughout the US, Argentina, South Korea and Vieques, Puerto Rico. She developed Movement Techniques, a dance-based class that begins with the actors speaking poetry. The class allows the actor to move with truth, alignment and strength on stage and film.
