Jena Necrason

Former Head-of-Movement

Jena is a performer, choreographer, director and teaching artist. New York: Lincoln Center, Ohio Theatre, HERE, Cherry Lane Theatre and seven shows at The Connelly Theatre. Regional theater: Glimmerglass Opera, KO Festival, Gorilla Theatre, Vermont Shakespeare Company. She has also performed abroad at The Harold Pinter Studio in London and was invited to spend one month studying with Pina Bausch Tanztheatre Wupperthal in Germany. Credits include Hamlet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Merchant of Venice, The Lucky Chance, Twelfth Night, and her one woman movement theatre show Cherry. As a choreographer/director her work includes critically acclaimed productions of Richard III, Midsummer, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar and The Comedy of Errors. She has worked for the past ten years with Fay Simpson’s Impact Theatre, Moonwork, and Wenhelm Productions American Composer Series. Jena is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association and Screen Actor’s Guild. BFA in Dance from the Performing Arts Conservatory at SUNY Purchase. Other teaching: The National Shakespeare Conservatory and workshops at high schools around the United States. At Adler, Jena also serves as Director of the Teen Program and Managing Director of The Harold Clurman Center for New Works in Movement and Dance Theatre (MAD). Jena is the Co-founder and Artistic Director of Vermont Shakespeare Company. On the Adler faculty since 1997.
