Anna Savant

Improvisation

Anna Savant is a New York actor as well as a middle school teacher. She holds a Masters in teaching from Occidental College in Los Angeles and studied acting and improvisation at the New Actors Workshop in New York with George Morrison and Mike Nichols. While teaching in international schools in Germany and Japan she taught improvisation and directed several middle school productions. She currently teaches drama at The Heschel School in New York. She is an ensemble member of Co-op Theater East with whom she has acted, toured and devised new works. She sees improvisation as an important tool for actors to foster a sense of play and to encourage a relaxed self-awareness that allows actors to trust their instincts and respond to what is actually happening around them. www.annasavant.com
