Q - What is the Adler Youth Group?
A - The Adler Youth Group is part of the Stella Adler Outreach Program. It is a one-year actor training program created to introduce students to voice and movement training and to the Stella Adler technique. The Adler Youth Group meets at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting on 27th Street.

Q - How old do I have to be to qualify?
A - You have to be 14 to 18 years old to qualify.

Q - Do I have to be enrolled in a school?
A - Yes. You have to be enrolled in any NYC public school.

Q - Do I qualify if I am enrolled in a private school?
A - This program is for students whose families cannot afford acting training. Call our school for further information.

Q - How much acting experience do I have to have to qualify?
A - No acting experience is necessary.

Q - What will be required of me as a student?
A - Full commitment to the year-long training. The life of the group depends on full participation and engagement. You cannot schedule other activities on the days and times of your classes.

Q - How many classes can I miss?
A - You are allowed 2 excused classes per semester. If you miss more than two classes you will be put on probation and you can be dismissed from the group.

Q - How much does the training cost?
A - This program is free of charge.

Q - Do I have to buy any materials during the course?
A - No.

Q - Will the Studio offer me an acting job?
A - No. You will be trained to become an actor. The Stella Adler Studio of Acting is not a talent agency.

Q - Will I learn how to act for film and TV?
A - You will be introduced to acting training for the stage. The skills you learn for the stage are transferable to the screen.

Q - Will the classes teach me how to audition?
A - Our primary training is on how to create and sustain a character. However, you will be working with monologues that can be used for auditions outside of the school.

Q - What happens at the end of the course?
A - At the end of your one-year training you will rehearse a group performance that will be shown to live audiences in a theater.

Q - Will a get a diploma?
A - At the end of the course you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
