For the past twenty years, Scott Freeman has taught at many of the nation's premiere actor training programs and is recognized as one of the leading acting teachers in the country. His studio in New York was created to provide a place for working professionals to continue their artistic growth, and promising actors to develop their talents.
With the increasing pressures and time constraints of the rehearsal hall, film set, and audition room, it is more important than ever that actors be given permission to slow down. The studio allows actors to concentrate on process, as well as develop methods for practical application of their technique in the workplace.
The Stella Adler Studio of Acting is proud to welcome Scott Freeman and his students to the Adler Community, and to provide an artistic home to our long time friend.
Scott Freeman was a member of the founding faculty of The Actors Center in New York City and taught in its full time conservatory, summer conservatory and workshop programs, throughout the eleven years of their existence. He recently completed his 2nd year on the faculty at Rutgers University teaching MFA 3rd Year Acting. In addition, Mr. Freeman enjoyed a long association with The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco as a core faculty member of its MFA program and a member of its acting company. He has taught at SUNY Purchase, The Atlantic Theatre Company, and The Stella Adler Conservatory. He also served as the founding Head of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater Actor Training Program. As an actor, theatres he has worked at include The American Conservatory Theatre, South Coast Repertory, New York Theatre Workshop, Mark Taper Forum, The Magic Theatre, San Francisco Shakespeare, San Jose Repertory, Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, Cincinnati Playhouse, and St. Louis Repertory. In addition, he has several film and television roles to his credit.
